On the Mac App Store. Free, with Pro at $1.99 a month or $9.99 a year.

Good when you want a simple, inexpensive blocker and you use Safari, Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera or Arc. The free tier blocks websites and apps for up to 6 hours at a time, with no extensions.

Falls short when you use Firefox, which it doesn't support. Schedules, pausing and the ready-made website categories need Pro, a running block can't be cancelled, and there's no report of your time. Its latest update is from January 2025.

The main difference

Off takes a deliberate step. Pause takes one click

Stopping the block asks for Touch ID or your password. Pausing is easy on purpose: pick one, five, ten, fifteen or thirty minutes, or an hour, and blocking comes back by itself when the time is up. Tomorrow morning it starts again on schedule, whatever happened today.
